Anti Aging Skin Care and You

Anti Aging Skin Care and You

Every part of the human body ages and that includes the skin which happens to be the largest organ of the body.  In order to keep the skin looking as smooth, vibrant and young as possible it is important to nurture it and give it plenty of tender loving care. To do so you need to work on your inside as well as your outside.

The rate at which your skin ages is related to a number of factors including your genetic makeup, your health and the type of lifestyle you live. Making good choices will help to slow the age process whereas unhealthy choices can lead to premature aging. Read on for some tips regarding anti aging skin care.

Don’t Smoke

One of the worst things you can do for your skin is smoke. Smoking will age your skin faster than anything else. Just take a look at people you know who smoke. While you may not notice any wrinkles or lines in their faces in their 20s, wait a decade or so and then you will see the effects of smoking on their skin.

The same holds true for those who are around second hand smoke a great deal. Exposing yourself to cigarette smoke in any way will contribute to faster aging of your skin in terms of wrinkles and dryness. The reason for this is because smoking depletes vitamin C from the body. Vitamin C is one of the necessary vitamins that the skin requires to stay moist, plump and youthful looking.

Limit Your Sun Exposure

A great deal of what most people believe is part of the normal aging process for their skin is actually sun damage. Limit the amount of exposure you get to the sun’s burning rays. Getting sun burned often can lead to wrinkles, fine lines and skin that is parched and in desperate need of moisture.

When you do spend time in the sun wear a sunscreen with a SPF that is 30 or higher and wear a hat with a wide brim. As well, don’t forget to protect your eyes with sunglasses. Be aware that ultraviolet rays can be harmful on overcast days so wear sunscreen even when the sun is not bright.

Eat Healthy

The condition of your skin is dependent upon the foods you eat. Eat a balanced diet and make sure you get lots of vitamins, nutrients and anti-oxidants. All of these elements help to keep the collagen and elastin in the skin as strong, resilient and young looking as possible. In particular eat lots of leafy green vegetables and fruits that are brightly colored.

Keep Your Skin Well Moisturized

Your skin needs as much moisturize as possible to be supple and healthy looking, not to mention youthful. Moisturize your face and moisturize your body- a lot. Try different products to see which one is most suitable for your skin. After a bath or shower, it is best to apply a body oil or baby oil. This helps to lock moisture into your skin where you need it most. Give the oil time to absorb and then follow it up with a lotion or moisturizer.

Drink Lots of Water

One very simple anti aging tip for skin care is to get into the habit of drinking plenty of water on a daily basis. Water provides the hydration your skin needs to look fantastic. It also flushes out toxins and keep your skin looking plumped up which is what you want to slow the aging process.
